WHAT AN UNDERCUT ANCHOR IS?
An undercut anchor is a mechanical shape interlock provided by the undercut in the panel.
The mechanical interlock is formed by anchor’s sleeve, which opens in the “cavern” – undercut shape using IFSeT impact free setting tool. The undercut is formed by a special drilling technology (daVID, myBOB, GoliatH v1 or GoliatH v2) or by special construction of the anchor “self undercut anchors” (more information on request).
Note: Undercut anchors do not create stress in the material during installation.
Undercut anchors are NOT expansion bolts.
Blick offers undercut anchors for nearly all materials of a thickness of min 8mm (under some conditions from 6mm):

Which type of undercut anchor should I use?
There are two main types of constructions of undercut anchors in general:
– STUD – these with external screw type BSA-S or HDA, which are more economic and used on site,
– FLUSH – these with internal thread, by example – BSA-SQ or BSA-C, these were used by fabricators, when installed in factory,

There are many options among both FLUSH and STUD groups, individual constructions made on request and special applications like INFILL or Skylight.

How much torque should I use?
Proper anchor fixing is a an important case especially when fragile materail is fixed.

Why should I use mechanical fixings ?
Blick recommends mechanical fixings above adhesives because of following reasons:
– mechanical fixings are easy to controll and calculate,
– structural design made by approved designer is fully corelated with fixing’s tigheted with torque wrenches,
– mechanical fixing is independent to temperatures of application,
– mechanical fixings are longlasting, uppon the time parameters stay the sam,
– mechanical fixings are resistant to UV.

What is the minimal overhang?
Fixing panels interior requires less space.
The minimum overhang may be 26mm only if the wall is flat.

How to install undermount sink in a safe way?
Blick was growing based on stone branch experience. One of dept. is supplyign kitchen countertops.
Mechanical fixings are the only way we install sinks to kitchen countertops.

How do I know anchor is deformed correctly?
Good question, especially if you do not see it. Anchor is set inside the material.
However on site technical manager may require QC.
BSA-SQ anchors allow to controll if anchor is properly deformed.

What’s drilling depth tolerance for Blick’s anchors?
Recommended drilling depth tolerance: 2-3 mm.
Total maximum drilling depth tolerance: 4.5 mm.
It is a very important question especially for fabricators and installers.
15mm anchor is installed in undercut holes min 15mm deep, but it also can be installed in 18mm undercut holes, which gives 3mm tolerance. From the other hand the anchor may go out from the material not more than clamp thickness, let’s say 1.5mm (clamp thickness is 2mm). Remember that setting anchor in the clamp requires to make different diameter hole in the clamp, usually ∅10mm (check technical data before drilling). Alternative options is to use washer/packer. Both tolerances give total tolerance depth of 4.5mm.
We strongly recommend to drill undercut holes 1-2mm deepet than reference depth. So 15mm anchors are usually set in undrecut holes 16-17mm deep.

NOTE: please note that the performance of undercut anchor (pull out and shear load depend on setting depth, any changes have significant impact on pull out). Blick’s Material Recommendations refer to embedment depths of anchors only. In case of any question, please contact Blick for more explanation.
What’s the relationship between anchor setting depth and pull out?
Considering the same material, setting anchor deeper delivers higher pull out and shear load values.
Here we present what results we can get setting 10, 15 and 20mm anchor in Jura limestone.
NOTE: please note that Material Recommendations by Blick refer to specific embedment depth. Installing anchors deeper is allowed, while it delivers higher loads, so you stay on safe site. All applications, where anchors are installed shallower require Blick’s apporval.
Can I use Blick undercut technology on my CNC machine?
To use Blick technology you do not need to buy drilling machines if you own CNC.

Will the panel withstand 10J hard body impact?
Metal ball hits the facade. Does not matter who throw it. This is a theory or practice?

How 500J soft body test is made?
Here we speak about 500J soft body impact energy hit in glass panel installed on AluStructure 45.

– it is when 50kg impactor hits the ground from height of 102cm.
This is really strong impact.
Where to locate undercut anchors on large facade panel?
This is a very difficult question, because of responsibility, which should be taken under consideration.
Here we present EXAMPLE ONLY of typical layouts of undercut anchor locations on large facade panels to uncover some part of this uncommon knowledge.
